How we finance ourselves

Gemma is a profitable company, and we do not rely on funding from VCs. We prefer to stay independent - and we don't believe a service company like ours should follow a VC model.

The questions we hear most.

Everyone at Gemma speaks English and this is our working language. While some (client-facing) roles may require German language skills, it is not required to apply.

With 70+ successful projects in 6 years, our senior team brings cross-industry expertise and deep technical know-how. We are hands-on and results-driven. We make sure our data & AI initiatives generate a positive ROI for our clients.

For a consulting company, we have a relaxed atmosphere without crazy working hours. We encourage workcations, as long as you have a stable internet connection, and also offer the possibility to work with different tech stacks. Last but not least - we are a profitable company and operate without VC pressure.

There are 2 roles for a standard project. Strategic Client Owner (SCO): responsible for maximizing client value creation and revenue retention, and accountable that ECOs can work without blockers - similar to a classical project manager. Executive Client Owner (ECO): responsible for operational execution, fulfilling stakeholder requirements and timeline, solving (or raising) blockers, and acting as the operational contact point for the client.

Initial projects with new clients usually take 6-12 weeks. After that, we follow a partnership approach where we work on further projects and milestones, typically on a quarterly basis.

You typically start with one client and if we see you are able to manage that well, we increase to a second client. If you are fully onboarded, it can be 2-3 clients.

This varies on a case-by-case basis; our clients can have anywhere from 30 to 15,000 employees. Usually, we work with startups or scale-ups of between 50 and 200 employees.

Most of our clients are based in Germany, but we also work for some international clients within the EU or the US.
